This question type allows the respondent to enter several individual lines of text which will correspond to question parts. You can also require the entry meet certain requirements using the pre-format option (pre-formatting can be used to make sure the entry is a number, number within a range, email address, date, etc).
Questions of this type are good for gathering profile information about the respondents. Using the pre-format options you can design different formats for the answer fields.
In a survey this type of question might look something like this:

We are about to show you step by step how to implement this question
To add a 'Single line text with pre-format options' question to your survey select the Insert > New Question option on the 'Surveys > Questions' page, and then:
- Select the 'Single line text with pre-format options'.
- Type your question text in the 'Write your question below' text box.
- Enter the label text in the 'Write label for each line' fields.
- Select the 'Show/Hide on condition' option if you want to show or hide particular answer choices depending on the respondent's answers to the previous questions.
For details on using this feature, consult the 'Optional Features' help chapter.
- 'Mode: Standard\Quick' Select the Standard mode to input each item in a different line or the Quick mode to input all the answer choices into the text box separating the choices by hitting the Enter key after each item.
- The New line link allows you to add a new answer line in the Standard mode if needed.
- The up and down arrow buttons allow you to move your answer choices up and down the list in the Standard mode.
- The delete button removes the answer choice from the question in the Standard mode. A yellow-colored button means that you are not allowed to delete this answer option because you have respondents who have answered it.
- You may customize answers format by selecting the 'Format answers' option, then defining the format for each answer line. Note that you are not allowed to customize empty field.
- If none of the predefined formats suit you, you can click Customize to create your own format types. For details see Customize Formats.
