What this feature is, why you should use it and when
Step by step implementation of this feature
This section explains what the "Common-password survey" is and why you should use it
What: Also called the Teacher/Student survey, this advanced feature allows you to create a teacher Profile Survey that is linked (through a shared, unique Profile Code) to multiple student surveys (Profile Records). This feature is only available if your subscription plan includes the Profile option.
Why: With this type of survey, only those respondents (students), who have the proper Profile Code (password), can take the survey.
We are about to show you step by step how to implement this feature
To take advantage of this option you need to:
To create a profile survey:
- On the 'Design Survey' page select 'I want to design a common-password survey'.
- Name your survey and add a question that asks for profile information.
- Continue with a standard design survey procedure.
There are two ways to add profile records to your survey: you can launch your survey in a regular way and have your respondents to submit the information; or you can add profile records manually. You can do it following the steps below:
- On your 'Surveys' page click the
icon next to the name of the profile survey you are going to add records to.
- Click Add New to launch the survey.
- Fill in the profile information and click Submit. Note that by clicking Add New you launch the survey. Each time you click Submit you add a response to your survey report. It means that a credit will be withdrawn from your account.
- Customize the automatically generated profile code if desired. This is the code respondents use to access the shared survey.
- Click OK if you need to add another profile record.
When you have added profile records, you can manage them on the 'Common-Password Survey' page, you can find the description of the controls below:
Show details Select the check box to see details of profile records. If the box is unchecked, you will see only the list of profile codes.
Profile code A unique combination of characters which is used to link other surveys on your account to this profile site. Click it to edit the code.
Edit icon Click here to edit corresponding profile record. No credits will be withdrawn from your account when you submit the edited record.
Click here to delete corresponding profile record.
Takes you back to the previous page.
To link your profile survey to another survey on your account:
- Navigate to the desired survey you wish to link the profile survey to and go to the 'Edit Questions' page.
- Click
icon.
- Use the 'Select Profile Survey' drop-down box to specify the profile survey to be associated with this survey.
- Create a question that prompts your respondents for profile code. Each time a respondent enters the correct profile code a new profile record is added to the appropriate survey report.
- Use the Hide check boxes to to designate which, if any, fields to hide from the respondents' view. If some fields are not hidden, respondents will see the label text of the profile survey and the data entered for the fields.
- Click Save to save your settings.
Tip: How to limit the number of respondents for one profile record.
You can set the limit on the number of respondents who access the survey using the same profile code. If the respondent does not meet the limit condition, the access will be denied after entering the profile code. To use this option, follow the steps below:
- In the profile survey edit the question of Single line type or add the new one.
- Enter the tag <max_students_count/> in any 'Write label for each line' single line text field.
- When adding profile records specify in the above mentioned field the number of maximum respondents allowed.
Note
- Common-password surveys can contain all questions types except for '3D Matrix'.
- Logical transitions are not available for this type of survey.
